After missing out on one piece of silverware, Lovren has revealed that winning the Europa League is now Liverpool’s dream.
And the former Southampton man also insists that he has not given up hope of a top-four finish under the charismatic leadership of boss Jurgen Klopp.
Lovren said: “United have a lot of quality players and if we want to progress in the Europa League, which it is our dream to win, we need to play well.
“We need to play like we did against City – aggressive football. It will be a great tie, especially the first game here.
“Is fourth place still possible? Of course. We are playing until the end and are still in the race.
“In the Premier League, everything is possible. We have a big, big game against Crystal Palace and we know we have always had problems against them.
“But it is a good thing to show everyone what we deserve out of this season.”
Lovren is looking forward to coming face-to-face with former team-mate Anthony Martial, who broke into the Lyon team at the age of just 17.
He added: “I played with him for a couple of years in France, he was with me at Lyon but he wasn’t like he is today.
“He is one of the key players in Manchester United – he has every quality to play in the best league in the world.e’re confident we can beat them though. But first it’s Palace and if we can keep the form going then it is a good step up before United.”
