Liverpool ready to play hardball with Southampton to land Sadio Mane

Klopp, who has been frustrated in his efforts to sign Mario Gotze from Bayern Munich, sees Mane as the man to add to the threat of Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi in attack, with Benteke likely to be sold to help pay for the deal.

Southampton are in no rush to sell Mane, and are more focused on appointing a new manager following Ronald Koeman’s exit to Everton.

But if a deal is completed, he would become the fifth player to move from St Mary’s to Anfield in little more than two years – following Rickie Lambert, Dejan Lovren, Adam Lallana and Nathaniel Clyne.
