Liverpool are set to launch a £20million move for 20-year-old Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud.
The Reds had been linked with Borussia Dortmund’s Ilkay Gundogan but with the Germany international set to join Manchester City manager Jurgen Klopp is ready to switch his sights to other targets.
Liverpool have been linked with rising star Dahoud for some time and have been tipped to firm up their interest but they could face competition.
Both Manchester United and Manchester City have been credited with an interest in the past, while BVB are also believed to be keen on Dahoud as a potential replacement for Gundogan.
Gladbach are also keen to keep hold of Dahoud as they are facing the prospect of losing Granit Xhaka this summer but a bid in the region of £20million may be enough to convince the Bundesliga outfit to sell.
Meanwhile, Liverpool continue to be linked with Mario Gotze, who has been deemed surplus to requirements by Bayern Munich, but the forward could delay a decision on his club future until after Euro 2016 with Germany.
