Galatasaray are targeting experienced Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva after the Brazilian was not offered a new deal by the club.
The Turkish giants have made the 29-year-old their number one target as they chase his signature in this transfer window, but also have Leicester’s Gokhan Inler as a back-up option.
Lucas is in the final year of his Anfield contract and would appear to have dwindling first-team opportunities next season after the addition of Marko Grujic to the midfield ranks.
The former Gremio star has made 313 appearances for Liverpool in all competitions after joining the club from the Brazilian outfit in 2007 and was part of the side that won the 2012 League Cup under the management of Kenny Dalglish.
But current boss Jurgen Klopp is reshaping his squad ahead of his first full season on Merseyside – with the Reds currently priced at 8/1 with Titanbet to win the Premier League – and has already allowed Martin Skrtel, Joe Allen, Jordan Ibe and some other fringe players to go.
