Mike Phelan has admitted Jake Livermore could remain in defence even though Hull’s injury crisis is starting to clear up.
Livermore has dropped back from midfield into central defence to cover for the injured Michael Dawson and has done a fine job slotting in alongside Curtis Davis.
Dawson is back in full training and could be ready to return to the side within in the next few weeks although he could have a job on his hands trying to win his place back.
There is every chance Livermore will be pushed back into midfield but Phelan admits his performances over the last few weeks have given him food for thought.
“I’ve never really had the conversation with Jake as to where he sees his future, whether that’s in midfield or the position he’s in at the moment,” said Phelan.
“What he has done is accept the role really well. Possibly that might have been due to the fact we didn’t have the squad at the time to do anything else with Harry out injured.
“He’s taken to it really, really well. When we look at the games and we analyse, he’s very comfortable there. He’s added a certain amount of calmness to proceedings.”
