LISTEN: Michael Ballack says Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City still favourites for Premier League title despite Tottenham defeat
The Spaniard enjoyed a hugely impressive start to his career in England, winning his first six league matches [and ten in all competitions].
His unbeaten run ended last week when City crashed to a 2-0 defeat to Tottenham at White Hart Lane.
But Ballack insists City remain the ‘team to beat’ with Guardiola – a three-time title winner with both Barcelona and Bayern Munich – at the helm.
“The work he did for Bayern Munich for the last three years was incredible, even without getting the Champions League trophy,” said the former Bayern, Chelsea and Germany star, in an exclusive interview on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast.
“For him it’s now a new challenge at Man City and you can already see the influence he has in terms of playing and in terms of possession, so I think Man City are the team to beat this season – even if they lost on the weekend.”
