That’s the view of Tony Cascarino, as the London rivals prepare to clash at the Emirates on Saturday evening.
The two teams head into the meeting equal on ten points, but former Blues striker Cascarino reckons Arsene Wenger’s Gunners have the edge on Antonio Conte’s side.
Speaking on the Weekend Sports Breakfast, he said: “They will both find it tough to get anwhere close to Manchester City this season…. But I personally think Arsenal are in a better position as a football club.
“Cherlsea’s back four is not what Conte would want. He chased numerous centre-halfs over the summer and got David Luiz in. I look at them and think is Ivanovic good enough for Chelsea to challenge? Is Cahill? No.
“John Terry is out injured, that is a blow, Azpilicueta has switched from left-back to right-back and Alonso is a full-back that needs a lot of work physically.
“Then you look at the goalkeepers. Cech was second to Courtois [at Chelsea] but at the moment Cech is a lot better.
“I just think Arsenal look a bit more rounded as a group. Costa is a massive plus and as an ex-Chelsea player I would like to think they could challenge and get beyond Arsenal, but I just don’t see it at the moment.”
