Jesse Lingard believes Manchester United have contributed in some small part to Leicester City’s amazing Premier League title bid.
The Red Devils have enjoyed close ties to the Foxes in recent years, loaning a number of their talented academy prospects to the King Power Stadium.
City midfielder Danny Drinkwater received his first England call-up on Thursday, having also started out at United before being shown the door four years ago.
And Lingard is convinced the quality of the coaching at United ensures their youngsters can always make a name for themselves, elsewhere, should things not work out.
The United winger, who expects to feature in Sunday’s derby clash with rivals Manchester City, said: “A good example with this would be the lads who used to be in our academy who are now at Leicester.
“Danny Drinkwater, Matty James, and Ritchie De Laet have all come through our system and know how to play football, and then took it there with them.
“It’s helped them get into the Premier League and now they’re top of the league.”
