Jesse Lingard says he would be keen to remain in the No 10 role for Man Utd, having shone in the unfamiliar position in recent weeks.
The 23-year-old winger was last month moved inside by boss Louis van Gaal, in outings against Liverpool and Manchester City
Lingard enjoyed the extra responsibility and the ability to work between the opposition lines, and believes he may have found a new facet to his game.
The United academy graduate told United review: “I enjoy playing in the No.10 role – I feel more comfortable, as you can get on the ball and create things.
“You are definitely more involved defensively and, obviously, attacking-wise too. But, even when you’re on the wing, you have to get back to defend, so it doesn’t really matter where I play, I will still do a job for the team.”
Lingard added: “I think it’s more like a free role these days [the No.10 position] and you can go anywhere to try and make things happen and create things.
“That’s the main idea but obviously you’ve still got to defend.”
