Leyton Orient appoint Alberto Cavasin as new manager

Alberto Cavasin has been appointed as the new Leyton Orient manager on a two-year contract.

Cavasin’s arrival was announced on the club’s official website and he will replace Andy Hessenthaler, who became the first managerial casualty of the season when he was sacked on September 26.

He may have to work on the club’s discipline as, in t he match immediately following Hessenthaler’s departure, the O’s went down to nine men inside the first 14 minutes of a 2-0 defeat to Plymouth.

Cavasin has never managed outside of Italy and has been out of work since being sacked by Sampdoria in 2011.

But t he 60-year-old had a successful time as Lecce manager from 1999 to 2002, where he won Panchina d’Oro award for Italian coach of the year in Serie A.

The Italian will be in charge of the O’s for the first time during Tuesday’s Checkatrade Trophy match against Southend.
