LESBOS HORROR: Thousands of migrants flee Greek refugee camp ‘after setting fire to it’

More than 5,000 migrants live in Lesbos, which was the main destination for more than one million asylum seekers who reached the Greek shores from Turkey since the escalating crisis erupted in 2015.

There are over 13,000 people on five islands in facilities built to house fewer than 8,000, according to Government information.

It comes at the same time 50 migrants, who were heading to Italy, were rescued off western Greece after issuing a distress call when they found themselves in trouble on their sailboat.
