Leicester 4 Swansea 0: Ulloa brace edges Ranieri’s men closer to historic title triumph

No Vardy, no problem was the defiant message as the fearless Foxes opened up the gap at the top to eight points. They cleared this crucial hurdle without their 22-goal top-scorer and the bookies quickly marked them as 1-5 ON favourites to finish as champions.

Chasers Tottenham must have been hoping this was the moment Claudio Ranieri’s men finally hit a fence.

But they came up with the perfect answer as suspended Vardy’s stand-in Leo Ulloa helped himself to a double. Defeat would have handed Spurs a massive boost going into tonight’s home game with West Brom, plus the chance to cut the gap to two points.

Upset Leicester dispelled any such notion as Riyad Mahrez picked up where he left off from the last time the two sides met.

Mahrez scored a hat-trick in the 3-0 win back in December and upset Ashley Williams so much in the process that the Swans skipper ended up stalking the Liberty car park looking for him.

The two had to be separated in the tunnel on that occasion and there’s no love lost.
