Chelsea left-back Baba Rahman is undergoing a medical at Schalke after the two clubs agreed a season-long loan deal.
The former Augsburg defender is set to return to play in the Bundesliga one year after Chelsea signed him for a reported fee of £21million.
But the 22-year-old was not fancied by former manager Jose Mourinho, who started him just three times before he was sacked at Christmas.
The Ghana international was substituted at half-time during Chelsea’s defeat to Southampton in February after a costly error led to Shane Long’s goal and he did little to impress Blues fans over the 15 Premier League appearances he made.
New boss Antonio Conte appears similarly unimpressed with what he has seen of Rahman during pre-season and has agreed to let him go out on loan.
Rahman has had spells with Gruether Furth and Augsburg in the Bundesliga before joining Chelsea so should settle in comfortably at the Veltins-Arena.
