Tottenham winger Erik Lamela believes his side can perform well in next season’s Champions League.
Spurs will compete in Europe’s premier club competition for the first-time since the 2010-11 campaign next season, after they secured a third place finish in the Premier League.
The north London club reached the quarter-finals of the tournament five years ago and Argentine international Lamela believes they can enjoy similar success on the continent next season.
He said: “For us at Spurs, it will be nice to be in the Champions League next season as well. Obviously we didnÂ’t play in it the last couple of years that IÂ’ve been here but it will be great for this team to be in the Champions League, for sure.
“I think we can perform well in Europe – we have the right team to compete. We hope that those who play for their national teams come back strong, play well in pre-season and play well from the beginning of our season.”
Lamela will also be hoping to replicate his own strong performances next season, as he was a regular in Mauricio Pochettino’s league side during the 2015-16 campaign, scoring five goals in 34 top flight appearances.
