Sheffield Wednesday are now favourites to wrap up a deal for Norwich striker Kyle Lafferty before the loan window closes.
Leeds United have been the leading contenders to snap up the Northern Ireland international, while Championship rivals Birmingham City are also in the hunt.
However, Wednesday are now in the box seat to do a deal after guaranteeing the striker the first-team football he craves, while they will also offer him a permanent deal at the end of the season if they are promoted to the Premier League.
The Owls are reported to have agreed a fee of £1.5million with Norwich to take him permanently and Lafferty is also happy to make the switch to Hillsborough.
It remains to be seen if Leeds and Birmingham will make an improved offer, but for now at least the striker looks set to join Carlos Carvalhal’s promotion chasing side.
