Birmingham boss Gary Rowett has played down fears over the injury sustained by Norwich loanee Kyle Lafferty.
Lafferty joined the Blues on-loan last week until the end of the month but it was feared he may not feature after picking up a groin injury on international duty with Northern Ireland.
Early reports suggested that Lafferty could be out for the remainder of the campaign and his Euro 2016 hopes appeared to be in doubt.
However, Rowett has revealed that the former Rangers man is likely to return to training this week and could make his debut next week.
Rowett said: “I was surprised to read things claiming he would miss the rest of the season. That’s not the case at all.
“Kyle has a tightness in the groin, just due to the fact he hasnÂ’t played that often this season. HeÂ’s been with the physios today and hopefully we will be able to get him out on the training field Friday. The weekend might come a little too soon for him, but he is certainly not ruled out – and certainly heÂ’s not going to be missing for six weeks or the rest of season.”
