Chelsea are stepping up their interest in Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly and could make an improved offer of £42million.
The Blues have been heavily linked with the 25-year-old throughout the summer but have so far been unable to broker a deal, as the Italian side are very reluctant to sell.
Reports claim that Chelsea have already failed with one bid in the region of £40million and are now set to go back with a slightly improved bid in the hope it will be accepted.
The Senegal international has been a revelation in Serie A and Blues boss Antonio Conte is keen to get him on board before the transfer window closes.
The player’s agent has confirmed that Chelsea are in the hunt and has also hinted his client would jump at the chance to move to Stamford Bridge, if the two clubs could agree on a fee.
Koulibaly can play in a number of positions which makes him even more appealing and is another reason why Conte is keen to wrap up a deal as soon as possible.
