Defender Lamine Kone insists Sunderland have enough quality in the squad to avoid relegation.
The Blacks Cats are currently in 18th place in the Premier League table and two points adrift of safety, although they do have a game in hand over Norwich in the final safe spot.
Kone moved to the Stadium of Light in the January transfer window and the former Lorient man believes Sunderland have a squad more than capable of pulling clear of danger, while indicating he feels his side have been unlucky not to pick up more points in recent weeks.
“I think if you look at recent months we did pretty good and there were a lot of positives in the performances,” he told the club’s official website.
“Myself and Wahbi [Khazri] have come in and offered something extra to the team, him in attack and me in defence, and with the other players and their quality in the team we have to go and do better.”
