The England international, who played in the Three Lions’ defeat to the Netherlands last month, has been linked to Chelsea amid rumours that Blues’ first-choice Thibaut Courtois wants out.

The 28-year-old has impressed since returning from a knee injury in January, conceding just nine goals in 12 matches including a run of six games where he kept successive clean sheets.

When asked if a contract extension was on the cards for Forster, who signed a four-year deal from Celtic in 2014, Koeman told reporters: “That’s a possibility, yes.”
