Jurgen Klopp has rubbished suggestions he is ready to cut Jordan Henderson adrift, insisting he has plenty to offer Liverpool.
The 26-year-old is still struggling to fill the big boots left by Steven Gerrard after inheriting the club captaincy from the Anfield legend and has not been helped recently by injury problems.
The England international missed large chunks of the 2015-16 season with an Achilles problem and has found it tough to produce his best form when on the field.
Klopp has insisted he has no doubts about Henderson though, insisting he will play a prominent role in his team this season and tipping him to prove the doubters wrong.
“I see him every day in training so if I was doubting him he would not be here,” the German boss said. “I like this player and he is very important for this club. There is absolutely no doubt.
“They always have to show they are not the reason we have not made the next step. Of course that is not the reason. He is a wonderful skilled player and his attitude is outstanding.
“There are more reasons for not being successful and it keeps these players always trying to convince everyone.
“Stay cool, try to play football it is not that difficult. Not only for Jordan but for other players.”
