Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has blocked Lucas Leiva’s move to Galatasaray for fear of leaving himself short, according to reports.
The 29-year-old had agreed a deal with the Turkish giants and the £2.5million move was set to be completed over the next few days but Klopp has pulled the plug for fear of losing too many players out of his midfield.
Lucas, despite being the club’s longest serving player could struggle for first team action next season if Klopp lands any of his future targets but for now he is going nowhere.
Galatasaray sporting director Levent Nazifoglu said: “We are no longer pursuing Lucas Leiva.
“We will continue efforts to sign alternative names instead.”
