Liverpool will reportedly fight it out with Manchester City for the signature of Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan.
The Germany international is considering his future but reports in Spain on Friday had stated Barcelona are out of the running as they have already been made aware of the 25-year-old’s summer intentions to join City thanks to the impending arrival of Pep Guardiola as boss.
Dortmund, however, took to their Twitter account to dismiss the idea of a done City deal, insisting: “Really? We should know about that, shouldn’t we? Truth is, we don’t know anything about that.”
However, it appears Gundogan, who still have two years left on his Dortmund contract and is valued at around £25million, does want to move to England in the summer.
And Reds boss Jurgen Klopp, who coached him during his time in charge of team affairs at Westfalenstadion, is thought to be keen on a reunion at Anfield ahead of the 2016-17 season in August.
