Charlie Austin, Jose Fonte, Steven Davis and Ryan Bertrand are set to return for Southampton’s trip to Leicester on Sunday.
Saints boss Claude Puel rested the influential quartet for Thursday night’s 0-0 draw away at Israeli outfit Hapoel Be’er Sheva in the Europa League Group K clash.
The French tactician argued that he had to keep some key performers out of the trip in order to avoid burn-out going back into the Premier League, especially with a trip to the reigning champions Leicester coming up so quickly.
Puel said: “It was important to take some players to keep fresh for a game in two days. Israel is very hard, it’s a long journey, a difficult opponent.”
Club-record signing Sofiane Boufal continues his rehabilitation from a knee injury, and the Morocco midfielder could make a belated debut after the international break, while right-back Jeremy Pied is a long-term knee injury absentee.
