Liverpool duo Emre Can and Dejan Lovren have both returned to training and should be available for Friday’s trip to Chelsea.
Both players missed Saturday’s 4-1 win over champions Leicester City at Anfield, Can with the ankle injury he suffered in last month’s EFL Cup win at Burton and Lovren with a nasty knock to his head picked up in training.
However, they both trained normally with the rest of their team-mates on Tuesday and are set to make themselves available for the clash at Stamford Bridge in a couple of days’ time.
There were fears centre-back Lovren had suffered concussion and would therefore be ruled out for at least a fortnight but Liverpool have said that is not the case and the Croatia international is set to be fit for Friday.
Meanwhile, Phillipe Coutinho is also in contention for a recall against the Blues after he sat out the win over the Foxes following the international break. The playmaker was part of the Brazil squad that beat Ecuador and Colombia at the start of the month, coming on as a substitute in both games, and started on the bench on Saturday as a result.
