Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet is hoping he will return to the starting line-up for Monday’s clash with Manchester United.
The Belgium international has missed out in Liverpool’s last two fixtures against Hull and Swansea with summer addition Loris Karius given the nod.
Boss Jurgen Klopp has kept his cards close to his chest over who will get the chance to start against United on the return from the international break on Monday.
However, Mignolet feels he deserves to return to the starting fold after some impressive early season displays against Arsenal, Tottenham and Leicester.
The former Sunderland man insists he will work hard to reclaim the number one spot if he fails to come back in to the starting eleven for the clash at Anfield.
Mignolet said: “I look at the positives and expect and hope to play against United.
“I can still take confidence from my good start in the league. At Arsenal, Tottenham and against Leicester [City], I was important to the team with some good saves.
“I don’t know what the coach will decide.
“I can just make sure I’m ready 100 per cent. Whether I play or not, nothing will change my preparation. It is not in my character to not give 100 per cent.”
