Sunderland goalkeeper Vito Mannone has brushed off Rafael Benitez’s arrival at Newcastle ahead of the Tyne-Wear derby.
The Italian ace is already expecting the atmosphere to be white hot at St James’ Park on Sunday when the two north-east giants meet each other and he does not believe the Magpies’ appointment of Benitez will make much difference to the relegation dogfight.
The loser of Sunday’s clash will face an uphill battle to keep their place in the Premier League and even a win by no means guarantees safety.
Mannone said: “It will be the usual battle. A derby is felt more here. The arrival of Benitez is one more problem.”
