Sunderland goalkeeper Vito Mannone has admitted a lack of clean sheets this campaign is leaving him frustrated.
Mannone has yet to keep a clean sheet this term and the team has only had three shut-outs during the entire campaign – all when Costel Pantilimon was between the sticks.
As Sunderland battle against the drop, boss Sam Allardyce has made it clear they need to keep clean sheets, but it is proving easier said than done and it is preying on the Italian’s mind.
He told the Chronicle: “For me, I’m going crazy! We’re desperately trying to get one [a clean sheet], but we’re finding it tough to get it.
“I’m making a few saves to keep us in the games.
“But it’s the work of the whole team, from the strikers through to me. All 11 players have to be concentrated on not giving cheap goals away.”
