Stoke have been boosted by the news Shay Given’s groin injury is not serious and will not sideline him for any length of time.
Alarm bells started to ring out after the veteran goalkeeper did not reappear for the second half at Manchester City on Saturday, and it was later revealed he was struggling with his groin.
Stoke have yet to comment on the injury, but reports have claimed it is nothing serious and he should be able to take his place in the starting line up against Sunderland this weekend.
If correct, the news will also come as a huge boost to the Republic of Ireland, who want to include him in their squad for the forthcoming European Championships.
Given has been handed his chance in the Stoke side after Jack Butland was ruled out for the season with an ankle injury, while youngster Jakob Haugaard looked unconvincing when conceding six goals in two matches.
