Former Crystal Palace keeper Cedric Carrasso says he was wanted by Sunderland boss David Moyes but the timing was not right for a move.
The Black Cats boss has to contend with his number one, Vito Mannone, being out of the side for the next three months after picking up an injury in training.
Moyes was linked with the Italian, who is currently at Bordeaux, but the 34-year-old, who had a short loan spell with Palace when he was youngster, said it was not the right time to head back to England.
When asked about an offer from Sunderland, he told Telefoot: “Yes, during the last moments, but it wasn’t the time.
“I returned from injury and there were other things to do.”
