Roy Hodgson’s men have found life difficult so far against all their opponents as they set their stalls out to play defensively against England.

Kane, who is tipped to win his place back in the starting XI on Monday night, says it’s vital they keep their cool if things star slowly.

He told the Standard: “The key is not to panic if it’s still 0-0 after half an hour.

“Patience is something we will have to use against Iceland, not just from the players but from everyone.

“All the fans and everyone involved.

“I think we have done that well in the tournament. For example, against Russia we were clearly on top and it took until the second half to score, then, unfortunately, we let one in right at the end.

“Slovakia was the same, we just could’t get the ball in the net. Sometimes that happens. Hopefully, it will change tonight and we get a few goals. But Iceland are no mugs. We have to be wary of that and break them down.”
