Crystal Palace starlet Sullay Kaikai hopes to stake a claim for the Eagles first-team next season after impressing while out on loan.
The 20-year-old is enjoying his second spell on loan with Shrewsbury this season after recovering from a hamstring injury, and continues to earn rave reviews with his performances.
Kaikai forced his way into the Eagles first-team squad on a couple of occasions this season, but then came the chance to go back to Shrewsbury to play more regular football.
The move is paying off and Eagles boss Alan Pardew is said to be pleased with the winger’s development.
“The gaffer thought it was best for me to play games week in and week out rather than stall my development,” he said. “Alan wished me luck and just told me to go out there and enjoy my football – the main thing is to improve from the loan.
“He knows how good the manager is at Shrewsbury – and his assistant. He knows under them IÂ’m going to get better.
“Every year IÂ’m trying to get into the first team. Pre-season I will come back ready to impress the manager. IÂ’ll just take it from there.
“I have to do my part and put in the performances and rely on gaining the manager’s trust.”
