Right-back Matteo Darmian could make a shock exit after Manchester United received an enquiry from Italian giants Juventus.
The Old Lady are understood to have made the approach soon after Jose Mourinho was installed in the Old Trafford hot seat.
And it is believed the Italy international defender could now be surplus to requirements under the new United boss.
Darmian signed last summer from Torino for £12million and was quickly hailed for how quickly he settled.
However, the 26-year-old suffered a dramatic loss of form and then fell out of favour with former chief Louis van Gaal, who opted to use winger Antonio Valencia in his position once he had returned from a long-standing injury.
Juve are believed to be willing to offer the Red Devils their money back and feel confident the prospect of a rapid return to Turin will appeal to the player.
Eric Bailly’s big-money arrival at the Theatre of Dreams will also increase the competition in United’s defensive ranks.
Phil Jones is likely to come under the most pressure in terms of a regular central defensive role next term although the England man is able to play at right-back, freeing up the possibility that Darmian could now be let go.
