Southampton will reportedly step up their efforts to sign Juventus forward Simone Zaza now they have Europa League football on offer.
The 24-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to St Mary’s ahead of the summer transfer window as speculation continues to suggest current Italian forward Graziano Pelle will be departing for a return to his homeland.
Zaza, who only joined Juve last summer from Sassuolo, struggled for regular first-team action in Turin and finished the clubs Serie A title-winning campaign with five goals in 19 appearances.
It was previously reported that the Italy international would be interested in moving on this summer, but only to a club that has European football on offer. Ronald Koeman’s side now have that following their sixth-placed finish in the Premier League.
The main obstacle facing the Saints is West Ham are also thought to be keen on Zaza and after Manchester United won the FA Cup on Saturday, they too have secured a Europa League spot as they finished in seventh place in the league.
But if Juve target a move for Pelle then there could be scope for Zaza to move to the south coast as part of any summer transfer.
