Crystal Palace and Chelsea are reported to be battling it out for the services of Juventus midfielder Stefano Sturaro.
Chelsea would expect to be in the box seat as the 23-year-old is currently part of Antonio Conte’s Italian squad at Euro 2016, but reports in Italy claim that Palace are also keen on a deal.
Eagles boss Alan Pardew is desperate to bolster a squad that faltered badly in the second half of last season and sees Sturaro as the ideal player to add quality to his midfield.
The Italian press claim that Palace have been tracking Sturaro since the January transfer window and are now ready to launch a bid for his services.
Southampton are already believed to have failed with a £15million bid and it could take an offer of over £20million to convince the Italian champions to cash in.
Any deal is on hold until Italy’s involvement in France is over, but there is a good chance Conte and Sturaro will be spending a lot more time together.
