Stoke will resurrect their interest in Manchester United defender Phil Jones when the January transfer window re-opens.
Potters boss Mark Hughes made an attempt to land Jones in the summer but United counterpart Jose Mourinho refused to sell and he remained at Old Trafford.
However reports have now suggested that Mourinho has had a change of heart, and as Jones continues to battle with injuries, he will consider selling when the window re-opens.
Hughes is keen to plug his leaky defence following a poor start to the season, and if he is still in charge come January, a fresh move could be made for the player.
Arsenal and Liverpool are also said to be tracking the versatile star, but Stoke have pulled off a number of transfer coups in the past, and will be hopeful of doing so again.
