Aston Villa chairman Dr Tony Xia has seemingly confirmed on social media that his club have signed Mile Jedinak from Crystal Palace.
Villa have confirmed that the Palace midfielder is a target, and Xia has now gone one step further by apparently stating the deal is done during a conversation with a fan on Twitter.
Xia was asked is “Jedinak happening?”, to which he responded: “Nobody can steal if he’s delighted to be with us; also you can’t keep him if his heart was not with us! #UTV”
However, Jedinak did play the full 90 minutes of Palace’s 1-0 home defeat to West Brom in the opening round of fixtures and when asked by reporters if he would be happy to stay at Selhurst Park, he appeared to distance himself from the possibility of a move before the transfer window closes.
“Yeah I’ve mentioned that many a time,” the 32-year-old said.
“It was nice to get out today and play in front of such vocal fans.”
Despite Jedinak’s claims a number of sources suggest the midfielder is set to complete a switch to Villa Park within the next 24 hours.
Yannick Bolasie is also thought to be on the verge of a big-money move to Everton and Palace boss Alan Pardew will have to step up his own hunt for further reinforcements before the end of the month to replace the two first-team regulars.
