The Crystal Palace midfielder leapt to under-fire Strachan’s defence after his World Cup qualifying flop.
Scotland lost to Slovakia and dropped points at home to Lithuania to leave them fourth in Group F, with fans pointing the finger at the manager.
But asked if Strachan was still the man to lead the team, McArthur said: “He is definitely.
“His gameplan against Slovakia worked and sloppy goals cost us. They were the be all and end all.
“We controlled long spells of the game and we had opportunities and that was down to the manager’s gameplan.”
