Chelsea manager Antonio Conte believes fans need to be realistic about the club’s chances of winning silverware this season.
The Blues have made an indifferent start to the season under Conte since he arrived at Stamford Bridge and currently sit in eighth place in the Premier League. Having lost their previous two league games against Liverpool and Arsenal, critics have found plenty to find fault with, after coming up short against rival clubs.
But Conte believes his side can learn from their recent defeats to improve on last season’s disappointing tenth place finish in the Premier League.
“In these two games [Liverpool and Arsenal], we saw and learned a lot of important things that we must work very, very hard to recover,” Conte told talkSPORT.
“It is very important, [we] don’t forget the past – it’s there – we finished [in] tenth place last season.
“And when you finish in tenth place, it means you have problems. And now, with great work, hard work, we are trying to solve this situation.”
Chelsea will be looking to recover from consecutive defeats against Liverpool and Arsenal when they travel to Hull City on Saturday.
