Inter Milan are reported to be lining up a summer swoop for Newcastle midfielder Florian Thauvin, who looks set for a sharp exit.
Thauvin only joined the Magpies from Marseille in the summer in a deal worth a reported £15million, but he struggled to make an impact at St James’ Park and re-joined the French side on loan for the remainder of the season.
A permanent return to Marseille looks to be out of the question due to the asking price and player’s wage demands but a switch to Italy with Inter could be on the cards.
The Italian giants have been heavily linked with a move for Lazio’s Antonio Candreva, but they are looking at alternatives should that deal fail to materialise, and Thauvin is one of them.
Newcastle may not have given up all hope of Thauvin, who penned a five-year-deal, becoming a success, but they are likely to accept any big bids that come in from Inter.
