Kolo Toure insists he will be ready to play if selected for Liverpool’s Europa League semi-final first-leg at Villarreal on Thursday.

The former Ivory Coast international, who won the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations before bowing out of international football, has found first-team opportunities limited this season, making just eight Premier League starts for the Reds.

His most recent outing came on Saturday in the 2-2 draw against Newcastle United at Anfield, with the hosts squandering a deserved 2-0 lead at the break.

Toure started the game alongside Dejan Lovren but the chance only arose after the club confirmed Mamadou Sakho would be missing for the foreseeable future after failing a drugs test.

Manager Jurgen Klopp now needs to decide who will start in Spain on Thursday, with Lovren, Lucas, Martin Skrtel and Toure all vying for a place, but the Ivorian is ready if called upon for the game, which Liverpool are 19/10 to win with Titanbet.

“If they call me up of course I will be really happy,” he told the Liverpool Echo. “I think I did some good things (against Newcastle). I need to recover and IÂ’ll be ready mentally.”
