Mario Balotelli believes signing for Nice will be the perfect move to get his career back on track.
The Italian striker claimed to have rejected other clubs across Europe, with his agent Mino Raiola revealing Balotelli was courted across all of Europe’s top five leagues.
But it was Nice who clinched his signature on a permanent basis from Liverpool, putting an end to Balotelli’s Anfield nightmare.
And the 26-year-old couldn’t be happier.
“The decision was only a sporting one,” he said during his introduction at Nice. “It was best for me. Other teams wanted me but Nice is a good project.
“The coach believes in me and that’s why I’m here.”
Balotelli originally joined Liverpool in a £16 million deal in 2014 from AC Milan, yet he could only muster four goals in 28 appearances in a miserable two year spell on Merseyside.
Despite all the controversy that has dogged the former Manchester City striker’s career, Balotelli has no doubts that his move to the Allianz Riviera is not a gamble.
“My career is different from what has been written,” he said, according to L’Equipe. “I have had physical problems, but I’m not a risk.”
