Mauricio Pochettino insists he is happy at Tottenham Hotspur and is not thinking about the vacant Argentina position.
Argentina have been without a manager since July 5, when Gerardo Martino resigned after the Copa America final defeat to Chile.
Several names have been linked with the role, including that of Atletico Madrid’s Diego Simeone, but it is thought Pochettino is the preferred option to take over the national team.
The 44-year-old, who is a former La Albiceleste international, led Spurs to a third place finish in the Premier League last season and were right in the hunt for the title.
Many feared Pochettino would be leaving this summer when the opportunity to manage his country came about, however, the Tottenham boss has eased any worries after saying he wants to stay at White Hart Lane.
“I think the speculation is normal because I am an Argentinian coach at a top club in England,” he said. “There are a lot of rumours that appear in the media but I am happy at Tottenham and for that reason, this is not the right moment.”
