Reports suggest that Tigers boss Steve Bruce sees the 26-year-old as the ideal replacement for first-choice stopper Allan McGregor, who has been ruled out until November due to a back injury.

McCarthy only joined Palace from Queens Park Rangers last summer and he started the Eagles opening six league matches of the 2015-16 campaign, before eventually losing his place to Wayne Hennessey.

The former Reading stopper only featured in one more league game for Alan Pardew’s side during the season, but he could now move to Hull, where he would compete alongside Eldin Jakupovic and Dusan Kuciak for a starting birth in the team’s opening match of the new league campaign against champions Leicester on August 13.
