Mbokani is facing around two weeks on the sidelines after sustaining the injury while on international duty with DR Congo.

Mike Phelan, who was confirmed as the new permanent manager at Hull this week following a drawn out spell as interim boss, may restore Abel Hernandez to the starting side in Mbokani’s absence.

Michael Dawson is yet to feature this season following ligament damage but is set to step up his recovery with an appearance for the Under-21s on Friday and is closing in on a return, while Ahmed Elmohamady is back in contention after a one-game ban.

Provisional squad: Marshall, Elmohamady, Livermore, Davies, Robertson, Clucas, Huddlestone, Mason, Henriksen, Snodgrass, Maloney, Hernandez, Diomande, Jakupovic, Maguire, Weir, Keane.
