Hugo Lloris: If it wasn’t for Mauricio Pochettino, I would have left Tottenham

The French international captain questioned his own ability and future when Andre Villas Boas and then Tim Sherwood were in charge.

Now he’s back to his best and helping Spurs home in on the title, ready to pounce if leaders Leicester slip.

Lloris has been a target for several top clubs but always stayed loyal. He said: “I had some concern and I question a bit myself two years ago, after AVB and Tim Sherwood were in charge, and I think the first meeting with Mauricio Pochettino was very clear for me, for my future.

“I think I trusted him since the first second I met him, and because I really understand what he wants, fully agree about his football view. I can say we have the same football view and he’s brought a lot to the team and the players.
