The France midfield player has played only 56 minutes of competitive football this season, for West Ham as a substitute against Chelsea in the season opener, and, again as a sub, for France in Belarus in midweek.
Payet was troubled by a thigh injury before the international break. But now Hammers boss Slaven Bilic hopes to be able to pick his fit-again playmaker for the first time this season.
“I just saw him here and, right, he was injured, he didn’t play for us since the first game of the season when he came on against Chelsea but then he played 45 minutes of a friendly for France against Italy and he came on for 35 minutes-or-so against Belarus,” Bilic said before training this morning.
“We’re going to see today. He’s definitely going to be in the squad and if he is fit – and I think he will be because we spoke a couple of times during these couple of weeks.
