Southampton will go for Bournemouth’s Eddie Howe if Ronald Koeman quits St Mary’s for another job this summer, according to The Mirror.
The Cherries boss is reported to be at the top of Saints wishlist following his impressive debut campaign in the Premier League as he steered his club to safety with a month to spare.
The Mirror claim Saints wanted Howe back in 2010 and have followed his career closely over the intervening period as he led Bournemouth to the Premier League and kept them there without sacrificing his attacking principles.
Saints are concerned that Koeman could be tempted away with the Dutchman already having told them he wouldn’t take a decision on their offer of a contract extension until the end of the season.
The 53-year-old is now on the wanted list of other Premier League clubs – reportedly including Everton who could replace Roberto Martinez in the next few weeks.
Koeman is on course to land a seventh-placed finish for the second season in a row, but is understood to harbour concerns about how far he can take the club.
