How Chelsea conduct their transfer business could lead to a bust-up with Antonio Conte

And given Chelsea’s upcoming fixture list and recent whispers about their transfer policy, the strong backing Abramovich has for Conte could unravel.

Abramovich is determined to abide by Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations, in a huge shift in approach from when he took over Chelsea in 2003 and started splashing the cash.

So much so that a club source told the Daily Mail that FFP regulations “run through the club like a stick of rock”.

It is claimed that this newfound prudence extends to transfer business at Stamford Bridge, where technical director Michael Emenalo and director Marina Granovskaia, Abramovich’s confidante, come up with targets.
