Gunners boss Arsene Wenger continues to search for the world-class striker he craves and Higuain is a player he has been linked with on more than one occasion.

The Argentine continues to show his class in Serie A and after firing home 31 goals so far this season, he is again being linked with a summer switch to the Premier League.

Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool continue to be linked but reports claim that Manchester United are leading the race for his signature when the transfer window re-opens.

Higuain is reported to have a £74million release clause in his contract and it has been suggested that United are willing to activate it in an attempt to get themselves back in the hunt for major honours.

Wenger himself is planning a spending spree but it remains to be seen if the Gunners would be willing to pay that much for the former Real Madrid star.
