England manager Sam Allardyce says goalkeeper Joe Hart will be in his squad for next month’s World Cup qualifier against Slovakia.

Hart, 29, is yet to make an appearance for Manchester City this season and has been told he can leave if he wants to.

“He’ll be in the squad definitely but going forward I don’t know what will happen until I’ve spoken to him,” Allardyce told Sky Sports News.

Allardyce will name his squad on Sunday for the game in Trnava on 4 September.

Hart has won 63 caps for England, but had a disappointing Euro 2016, making mistakes against Wales and Iceland as the side were knocked out in the last 16.

With Hart out of favour with new City manager Pep Guardiola, Argentine goalkeeper Willy Caballero has been an ever-present for the club so far this season.

Everton are keen on signing Hart, who is not interested in joining Sevilla or Borussia Dortmund, who had wanted him.

Barcelona said on Saturday they had reached the “beginning of an agreement” with City over the transfer of their goalkeeper Claudio Bravo.

England’s opening Group F qualifier for the 2018 World Cup their first game under Allardyce, who was appointed after Roy Hodgson quit following the team’s defeat by Iceland in the last 16 of the European Championship in June.
